Plaka tourist resort is located in the middle of the western coast of Naxos, about 10 km south of Hora. The beach named after the resort is the extension of Agia Anna, and is one of the most beautiful and long beaches of Naxos. Accommodation facilities are plenty and the taverns offer delicious food of the local cuisine most of them made of local products. Near the resort you will find the ruins of an ancient defensive tower "Palaeopyrgos" . A local, quite romantic tradition states that the tower belonged to a princess who, after the loss of her beloved man settled here and became a witch.
